While
awareness, education, and technology continue to advance the survival rate
of cancer patients, the many concerns of cancer survivors become even more
significant. Cancer treatment-related symptoms are experienced by 72% to
95% of all cancer patients worldwide. Prescriptive exercise, as detailed
by this program, can play a significant role in reducing common symptoms
and increase the quality of life for cancer survivors.

An extensive personalized physical assessment is performed to identify cardiovascular
fitness, percent body fat, body mass index, muscle strength, muscle endurance,
balance, and overall flexibility. This information is then used to prescribe
an individualized exercise program that not only improves quality of life,
but also improves the ability to manage the effects of the different types
of cancer treatment.

Fit
for Life Wellness Program includes:
• Complete
medical and cancer histories
• Extensive fitness assessment
• Development of individualized exercise prescription
• Individualized exercise intervention program progressions every two
weeks
• Three-month and six-month follow up assessments
The goal is to provide scientifically based individualized prescriptive exercise
intervention for cancer patients.

The Fit for Life Wellness Program will be designed to meet your individual
needs. The program will be customized so that you have a choice to participate
either at your home (with minimal equipment) or at a local fitness center,
if preferred.
On your first visit, please wear loose fitting athletic attire (shorts or
sweats) and tennis shoes.
