Benefits of ExerciseThe Cancer Rehabilitation program offered within the Functional Restorative Lab is a comprehensive exercise program that emphasizes a "whole body" approach to fitness and functional restoration. By utilizing aerobic conditioning, resistive training, as well as functional exercise, the program meets the primary goal of addressing the many side effects of cancer and cancer treatment.

Specific goals of the program include restoring cardiovascular fitness and endurance, restoring pulmonary function and capacity, restoring muscle strength and endurance, restoring range of motion and flexibility, as well as restoring balance and coordination. By achieving these goals, we hope to improve your quality of life as a cancer survivor.

The most successful participants of the Cancer Rehabilitation program complete three sessions per week, on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday frequency. For those who are unable to comit to the recommended frequency, participation in the program on a twice a week, or a Tuesday-Thursday frequency, can also elicit positive physiological adaptations to exercise and improve overall fitness and function. The benefit of participating in the program on a more frequent basis allows for the many positive physiological adaptations of consistent exercise to occur in the shortest amount of time.

Every Cancer Rehabilitation exercise program is customized to address your specific, individual needs while adhering to the need to address both aerobic conditioning and resistive training components. All individual exercise sessions are scheduled for two hours in length, and are spent with direct, one-to-one supervision by Joe Mondry, DPT, MSRS, CSCS, CLT, who is a Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist and a board Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

To achieve the optimal physiological adaptations from consistent exercise training, the ideal duration of the Cancer Rehabilitation exercise program is twelve weeks, or three months. Upon completion of the program, an extensive home exercise program is provided to allow you to continue your successful training at the local gym or fitness center of your choice.
