New Horizons Physical Therapy is proud to announce the grand opening of its new
Functional Restorative Lab!
The Functional Restorative Lab was aptly named in consideration of three specific definitions relative to its
primary
focus for the treatment of Cancer patients:
Functional
(func•tion•al): Adjective. Of, or having, special activity, purpose, or task; relating to the way in which
something works or operates.
Restorative
(re•stor•a•tive): Adjective. Having the ability to restore health, strength, or a feeling of well-being.
Lab
(lab): Noun. A laboratory. A room equipped for scientific experiments, research or teaching.
The Functional Restorative Lab's focus is to address the many Cancer treatment-related symptoms that up to
95%
of
Cancer patients experience. These symptoms include:
• Debilitating physical fatigue
• Global muscle weakness
• Nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite, with resulting nutritional deficits
• Emotional stress, including depression and anxiety
• Cognitive difficulties, including loss of mental focus and memory lapses
• Sleep disturbances, including loss of deep sleep and fragmented rest
• Body image issues
• Lymphedema
Using a prescriptive exercise approach focused on the identification of both the physiological and
musculoskeletal
deficits resulting from Cancer treatment, the Functional Restorative Lab will provide the opportunity to:
• Improve cardiovascular (heart and artery) capacity and endurance
• Improve pulmonary (lung) capacity and function
• Improve whole-body muscular strength and endurance
• Improve balance and coordination
• Improve range of motion and flexibility
• Reduce emotional stress, including depression and anxiety
• Improve sleep patterns, including depth and quality of sleep
• Improve nutritional uptake, enhancing overall bodily function
• Improve body composition and body image
The goal of the Functional Restorative Lab is to provide the opportunity for Cancer patients, as well as those who
have completed Cancer treatment, to have a venue in which they can restore their lifestyle and regain their health and wellness.
If you are interested in this exclusive prescriptive exercise program, please contact Dr. Joe Mondry, at the Functional Restorative Lab at 858.764.2409 ext. 1054 or at newhorizonspt@cox.net. |
